Some common questions are addressed in the following sections:
  • Should I attempt to refill my cartridges myself?
  • What quality should I expect of the inks you provide?
  • When should I refill my cartridge?
  • What do I get in a refill kit?
  • How much money can I save?

  • Should I attempt to refill my cartridges myself?

It is not difficult to refill an inkjet cartridge. It is a simple process that takes from 5 to 10 minutes depending on which cartridge is being refilled. Steps include removing the cartridge from the printer, finding or making an entry hole in the cartridge, transferring the ink from the bottle to the cartridge, waiting a few minutes for the pressures to stabilize and then re-installing the cartridge and cleaning up.

Refilling should not be messy if you are careful. You probably will get some ink on your gloves so be sure to wear them. It is best to refill in an area that is safe from damage if you do spill some ink (use common sense here - you don't want to ruin your carpet or stain your counter top if an accident occurs!). Lay down some newspapers before you start and have some paper towels handy. If you should happen to get ink on your hands a mild bleach and water solution will clean the ink off your skin. If you don't want to use bleach, Lava soap works fine with a little scrubbing.

What quality should I expect of the inks you provide?

Identical chemical and physical properties as the original ink. Each ink is custom formulated to match the cartridge.

We formulate our inks to perform in the same manner as the manufacturer's, we don't attempt to exceed the manufacturer's formulations.

We do offer specialized formulas for some printers used for specialty applications. These inks are not intended to perform like the manufacturer's and therefore can not be compared to the inks we sell which are intended to do so. Some examples of specialty inks include pigmented color inks, archival formulations, and sublimation inks. While these inks are generally safe to use with the printers with which they are identified, they may require additional care and cleaning on the part of the end-user which is not required with our standard ink sets. (call us for details)

When should I refill my cartridge?

There is no fixed answer to this. It depends on the cartridge and if it is empty. If you are careful and don't let your cartridge become empty, you can refill 5 to 7 times or more before the cartridge wears out. Once it goes empty and dries out it is more difficult to refill. Get in the habit of refilling your cartridge as soon as it runs out.

What do I get in a refill kit?

Everything you need to refill a standard store bought inkjet cartridge is included in the kit, except the empty cartridge from your printer. There are no stations to purchase or special cartridges required. Each kit contains bottles of ink, syringes, injector tips for insertion into the cartridge, a detailed set of instructions, gloves, and all the tools and accessories needed to complete the refill (parts included in kit will vary depending on kit ordered).

How much money can I save?

One of our 4 oz Tri-Color Kits and 8 oz Black Kits can save you over $600!

For each of our kits and bulk inks we have calculated the savings you can experience by using our products instead of using new OEM cartridges. We have assumed that all three colors; cyan, magenta & yellow, will run out at the same time and that this would force you to purchase a new color cartridge. We also assume that when the black runs out you will have to purchase a new black cartridge. Because all of the colors don't run out at exactly the same time, actual savings may be greater.

For example, if you purchase an HP 500 Tri-Color Kit & Black Kit, it contains 15 refills for each color and 8 black refills. This means you can avoid purchasing a new color cartridge at least 15 times. The savings is 15 x $28 = $420. This does not include the black cartridge, which can be refilled 8 times for an additional savings of 8 x $26 = $208. This is a total savings of $628.
